Peg shaped teeth are a dental disorder called microdontia, a condition where one or more teeth appear smaller than average. In general, the most common teeth affected are the upper lateral incisors or sometimes third molars. Besides, peg laterals happen on both sides in most instances, and they have shorter roots than usual teeth. Treatment for peg shaped laterals could be veneers, crowns or resin restorations.

The patient came to our clinic complaining of badly broken down tooth and the patient opted for extraction initially. But upon performing diagnostic test, we can save the tooth by root canal therapy. The tooth involved was treated endodontically with post & core and porcelain jacket crown as final restoration.

NOTE: Root canal treatment is designed to eliminate bacteria from the infected root canal, prevent reinfection of the tooth and save the natural tooth.

The patient came to our clinic complaining of her front teeth which is badly broken down. Almost half of the tooth is gone. Upon performing diagnostic tests to the offending tooth, the tooth should be treated endodontically. The tooth was build up with composite restoration temporarily.

Root canal treatment is designed to eliminate bacteria from the infected root canal, prevent reinfection of the tooth and save the natural tooth.

What is a periapical X-ray?
Periapical X-rays show the whole tooth — from the crown, to beyond the root where the tooth attaches into the jaw. Each periapical X-ray shows all teeth in one portion of either the upper or lower jaw which is useful for root canal treatment, diagnosing extraction and periodontal cases and many more.

The convenience of having a portable periapical xray is that you can use it during chair side procedures without bothering the patient.

The patient has been smoking for years and you can see ni****ne stains on the lingual surfaces of the teeth. These stains are difficult to remove because it adheres to the tooth surface.

Note: Poor oral hygiene can lead to tooth decay, gum problems (bleeding gums), bad breath, bone loss and many more. Dental health is important and should also be our priority 😉

Oral prophylaxis or cleaning of teeth is done every 6 months. So visit your dentists regularly.
