Today, we celebrate the 36th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.
I was 11 turning 12. I vividly remember the news about what was going on at EDSA, and the frustration I felt because my parents and Ate’s did not bring me there with them.
Looking back, and especially today, lalo kong naappreciate ang People Power Revolution. It was proof of the determination and perseverance of Filipinos in our true character, winning a long fight against grave injustice and corruption.
I remember how different global leaders and citizens looked at us with such admiration and respect. EDSA was a great source of pride, and a gift of the Filipino people to the rest of the world. One that would be forever part of history, dahil nagkaroon ng matagumpay na rebolusyon nang payapa at walang dahas. Truly anointed by the Lord.
We live in crazy times. And the wish in my heart is that whenever we feel lost as a nation, that we rekindle the true spirit within that brought us together at EDSA, then move forward better together.
