One of the most common messages parents send us is: “There’s a new tooth growing behind the baby tooth!”

This is often called “shark teeth.” 🦈

In many children, the permanent tooth begins erupting behind the baby tooth before the baby tooth becomes loose enough to fall out.

What to do:

✔️ Encourage gentle wiggling
✔️ Keep brushing the area carefully
✔️ Schedule a dental evaluation if the baby tooth is not becoming loose, if your child has pain, or if the permanent tooth is erupting significantly out of position

Most cases are not an emergency, but they are worth monitoring so the permanent teeth have the best chance to come in properly. ✨
