CASE: SURGICAL REMOVAL OF SUPERNUMERARY TEETH PRIOR TO ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT

Extra teeth (oftentimes impacted) are needed to be removed prior to orthodontic treatment. This is to alleviate crowding, potential infection and prevent root damage of teeth during movement.

This is a case of removal of impacted supernumerary teeth along the patients upper midline. The patients bite is also moved forward. This results in closure of gaps, better side profile and more esthetic smile.

Sa case na ito, nabali ng pasyente ang kanyang pangil dahil sa maling kagat (deep bite) na natrauma at nabasag ang pangil sa loob ng buto. Kinakailangan ito palitan ng dental implant ngunit mas maganda sana kung macorrect din muna ang nakakatrauma nyang kagat. Kung kayat nagpabraces muna ang pasyente bago sya nagpalagay ng dental implant. Ang buong process na ito ay inabot ng isang taon dahil kailangan din lagyan muna ng bone graft ang pinagbunutan sa kanya.

Ang case na ito ay paggawa ng pustiso ng isang pasyente na may misaligned na panga (mas humaba ang isang side, at may maling kagat. Challenging ang case na ito dahil mahirap makuha ang centric bite or ang pagkagat ng pasyente sa gitna, dahil buong buhay nya ay mali ang kanyang kagat.
