Facial swellings can be caused by badly decayed tooth/teeth. This patient came to us with photos of his CT scans. He sought treatment from us. He came from a specialist who recommended the scans.

Oral examination revealed root fragments and a periapical xray was taken showing 3 small root fragments in the left first molar area. The swelling was really bad. It had been there for the past 2 months before the patient sought help from a physician.

Fast forward…the root fragments were extracted after oral examination and a lot of pus was drained and pressed out from the socket. After the procedure, the swelling expectedly decreased.

Patient who was worried thinking that the swelling could have been a sign of CA was relieved and happy. Happier, perhaps, hadn’t he spent ₱6K unnecessarily for the CT scans.

DON’T PULL THAT ROOT OUT YET. Have them checked by your dentist first. Some roots can still be saved, treated and used.

ASK YOUR DENTIST ABOUT ROOT CANAL TREATMENT.

This lady was 16 years old when a missionary couple brought her to our clinic in 2017. She hails from Nueva Era and her parents did not have the money to have her teeth fixed. She was thinking of having all her four front teeth pulled out because of pain, foul smell and the seemingly irreparable and hopeless condition. Expectedly, a denture would have to be placed to replace the teeth that would have been extracted.

Our clinic did not subscribe to the idea of extracting her front teeth. We believe in saving teeth at all cost (if possible). So, all four teeth underwent root canal treatment and, eventually, various restoration procedures.

If, in the future, this beautiful lady gets to have a good job, the final restoration would ideally be porcelain jacket crowns for all four front teeth.

Meanwhile, she is happy with her current appearance. Oh! The root canal treatments and all those restorations would have cost a hefty sum but….

Oh well, sometimes we just have to do what we have to do and allow God to take care of everything else.

Dentists are supposed to be tooth savers and not tooth pullers🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😁😁😁😉😉😉

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE

Ask your dentists about PIT AND FISSURE SEALANTS. These are light curing materials and they are placed on the grooves of your teeth to prevent food from lodging on them and eventually cause decay and cavities.

Health is wealth. Healthy teeth prevents you from spending so much on dental treatments which can be very expensive😊
