🦷✨ BUILDING THE FUTURE OF DENTISTRY: 3RD BOARD MEETING OF PDA DAVAO – BATCH HIRAYA 2026–2027 ✨🦷

Leadership is not just about making decisions—it is about listening, planning, addressing challenges, and creating opportunities that will benefit the entire dental community.

On August 7, 2026, the Philippine Dental Association – Davao City Chapter, Batch Hiraya 2026–2027 gathered at Barok Cafe & Resto, Pryce Business Park, Davao City, for its 3rd Board Meeting—an evening filled with meaningful discussions, strategic planning, and renewed commitment to the profession. 🦷🤝

📌 KEY MATTERS DISCUSSED

🏅 1. LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY

One of the major points discussed was the eligibility for Lifetime Membership. The Board emphasized that members must have completed 35 consecutive years of membership with no outstanding dues to qualify.

A reminder that loyalty, commitment, and continuous support to the organization are truly valued and recognized. 🏆

🏢 2. DAVAO DENTAL CENTER BUILDING UPDATE

The Board also tackled the continuing concerns surrounding the Davao Dental Center building, particularly its recent physical challenges.

Different possible options and approaches were discussed as the organization looks toward a responsible and sustainable way forward—protecting an important part of the Davao dental community while considering the needs of present and future generations of dentists.

💰 3. TREASURER’S REPORT

The Treasurer’s Report highlighted the chapter’s continuing growth, particularly with the increasing number of new dentists and inductees joining the Davao Dental Chapter.

This growing membership is a positive indication of a stronger, more engaged, and more united dental community in Davao. 🦷📈

🎓 4. 90TH INDUCTION OF NEW MEMBERS & OFFICERS

Preparations and discussions for the upcoming 90th Induction of New Members and Officers, together with matters concerning the General Membership Meeting (GMM), were also taken up.

The induction represents more than welcoming new members—it is about bringing new energy, fresh ideas, and renewed commitment into the organization.

🌱 5. COMMITTEE REPORTS & “NGITI NG BAYANi”

Committee reports were presented, providing updates on ongoing programs and initiatives.

The Board likewise discussed updates on the chapter’s pet project, “NGITI ng BAYANi,” continuing Batch Hiraya’s commitment to programs that bring meaningful oral health services and community impact beyond the dental clinic. ❤️🦷

👑 6. PRESIDENT’S TIME & OTHER MATTERS

The meeting concluded with the President’s Time, including further discussions on the First GMM and other matters essential to the direction and development of the chapter.

Responding to the Call of Service, Transforming Lives One Smile at a Time
When compassion meets leadership, meaningful change follows.

Upon the official invitation of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), PDA Davao City Chapter – Batch Hiraya, under the exemplary leadership of President Dr. Jessie D. Dicen, proudly answered the call to serve the children of the Davao City Special Needs Intervention Center for Children (DCSNICC).

As part of the 2026 Nutrition Month Celebration with the theme "Sa PPAN: Sama-Sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat" and sub-theme "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!", PDA Davao partnered with DCSNICC to promote preventive oral healthcare among children with special needs, recognizing that good oral health is essential to proper nutrition, overall health, and well-being.

The DCSNICC, the first facility of its kind in Mindanao, provides intervention, therapy, and family-centered services to children with special needs aged 0–6 years. Initiated by then Mayor, now Vice President Inday Sara Duterte, and continued by Mayor Sebastian Duterte, the center is a state-of-the-art facility offering Developmental Pediatric Consultation, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Special Education, Audiology Services, Social Work Services, Parent and Caregiver Training, a sensory gym, aquatherapy area, playground, and transition programs.

🦷 PDA Davao Batch Hiraya proudly served 100 beneficiaries through:
✅ Fluoride Treatment for children with special needs
✅ Distribution of Toothbrushes and Toothpaste (TB/TP)
✅ Dental Health Education for parents, students, and teachers
✅ Promotion of proper oral hygiene and preventive dental care

This successful outreach reflects the dedication and vision of Dr. Jessie D. Dicen, whose leadership continues to inspire Batch Hiraya in bringing quality oral healthcare to every sector of the community, especially children who need it most.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the City Social Welfare and Development Office and the dedicated staff of DCSNICC for their trust and partnership.

A very special thank you to Immediate Past President of Batch Madasigon, Dr. Lotis Uy Sola, for coordinating this meaningful activity, together with Dr. Nuel Sola, whose unwavering support greatly contributed to its success. 🧡🦷 WHERE COMPASSION MEETS ACTION: REACHING THE UNREACHED, SERVING THE UNDERSERVED 🦷🧡

On August 1, 2026, the Philippine Dental Association – Davao City Chapter (PDA-DCC) once again proved that service knows no distance. Together with PAFJO-TMJ Orofacial Pain Inc. and IPHC-DMSFI, our dedicated team traveled to Sitio Datu Lampipi, Lower Kibalang Elementary School, Marilog District, to bring hope, health, and brighter smiles to the 62 beneficiaries from the Matigsalog Tribe.

From crossing rivers and traveling rugged roads to sharing laughter with children and families, every step of the journey reminded us that no community is too far when the mission is to serve.

Clinic Site Visitation & Membership Information Drive

The Philippine Dental Association – Davao City Chapter, under the leadership of our President Dr. Jessie D. Dicen, continues its commitment to strengthening our dental community through a series of clinic site visitations to dental practices across Davao City.

These visits aim to personally connect with our fellow dentists, provide updates on the mandatory registration to the local PDA Chapter in accordance with existing association policies, and encourage active participation in the programs and initiatives of the Philippine Dental Association.
During the visitations, clinic owners and practitioners were also invited to attend the 91st Induction of New Set of Officers, New Members, and Turnover Ceremonies, a milestone event celebrating leadership, unity, and professional excellence within our chapter.

The Philippine Dental Association – Davao City Chapter, in collaboration with the Davao City Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), the Davao City Health Office – Dental Division, and Smiles Foundation, proudly participated in a Medical and Dental Outreach Activity held at Rizal Park, Davao City, in celebration of the 48th National Disability Rights Week.

Through this meaningful inter-agency collaboration, we reaffirm our commitment to making quality oral healthcare more accessible and inclusive for our Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and the community.

PDA Davao City Chapter Joins LTO Region XI in Oplan Balik Eskwela 2026 Medical and Dental Mission

Service beyond the clinic is one of the defining commitments of the dental profession. Guided by this principle, the Philippine Dental Association – Davao City Chapter, under the leadership of Chapter President Dr. Jessie D. Dicen, proudly partnered with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region XI in the successful conduct of the Oplan Balik Eskwela 2026 Medical and Dental Mission held on July 20, 2026, at Quezon Elementary School, Barangay Daliaon Plantation, Toril, Davao City.

This collaborative outreach brought together government agencies, healthcare professionals, educators, and volunteers with one shared goal—to ensure that every child starts the school year healthier, happier, and more prepared to learn. Through this partnership, PDA Davao City Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to making preventive oral healthcare accessible to communities, especially to young learners who are the future of our nation.

A total of 233 elementary school children benefited from the dental mission. Beyond the clinical services provided, the activity served as an opportunity to inspire children to develop lifelong oral health habits. By teaching proper oral hygiene at an early age, we help reduce the burden of preventable dental diseases and empower every child to smile with confidence.
