vertebral compression fracture (VCF) occurs when a spinal bone collapses, often due to osteoporosis, causing pain, height loss, and a hunched posture (kyphosis). Healing typically takes 8 to 12 weeks with conservative treatment (bracing, pain meds), though pain may persist. Prognosis is generally good for healing, but further fractures may occur.

It is primarily used to manage flat feet (fallen arches), overpronation, and plantar fasciitis by redistributing weight and providing stability.

Ankle Foot Orthoses (AFOs) are braces designed to support the ankle, hold the foot in proper position, and improve walking stability. Typically made of plastic or carbon fiber, they treat conditions like drop foot, stroke, cerebral palsy, and MS by assisting with dorsiflexion, providing clearance, and enhancing balance.
