🦷 Forces of Occlusion
Occlusion is more than just how the teeth meet.
Every bite creates forces that are received and distributed through the teeth, periodontal tissues, muscles, TMJ, and the neuromuscular system.
When contacts and movements are harmonious, the system can function efficiently. When interference or excessive loading occurs, the body may adapt—changing muscle activity, mandibular movement, and the way forces are distributed.
Understanding these relationships allows us to look beyond “straight teeth” and appreciate the importance of function, balance, and stability in dentistry.
Every bite matters. Every force has a response. 🦷🧠💪
