Senyales na kailangan mo na ng root canal:

1. Sumakit na ang ngipin mo. Yung tipong nagrerelapse ka lang or nakatulala or nanonood ng tv or nakaupo, bigla na lang masakit na masakit. “Doc pwede pang pastahan?” hindi na nga po, RCT na.

2. Nangingitim yung ngipin mo. Ibig sabihin deds na sya. “Doc kaya pa ba ipasta?” Hindi na nga bhie. Deds na.

3. May pimple sa taas. Sign yan ng infection. “Doc kaya pa ba ipasta?” Nasan na ba ang pamalo ko???

4. Namaga na yung pisngi mo, or panga mo. “Doc kaya pa bang—“ 🥊🥊

Anyway, if you’re experiencing any sa mga nabanggit ko sa taas, wag nyo na itanong if pwede pa pastahan. Root canal na po talaga. At hindi po totoong nakakacancer ang RCT. okay yun lang byeeeee~

Why Toothache Gets Worse at Night — The Real Reason Behind It.

Many people notice their toothache feels more intense when they lie down — especially at night. It’s not psychological. It’s biological.

When you lie flat, gravity shifts blood flow toward your head. This increases blood volume around the infected tooth, raising internal pressure in the pulp chamber — a closed space that can't expand.
The result? Throbbing, pulsing pain that worsens even if you’re resting.

In cases of irreversible pulpitis or deep decay, the inflamed nerve tissue reacts more aggressively when the body is in a horizontal position. Add to that the lack of distractions at night, and the pain feels magnified.

If your tooth hurts more when lying down, it's a red flag that the pulp may be severely inflamed or infected — and likely needs immediate dental treatment such as root canal therapy.
Delaying may lead to abscess, bone infection, or facial swelling.

Dry Socket 🦷

Dry Socket 🦷

🚫 Dry socket is a painful condition that can happen after a dentist pulls a tooth. It occurs when the blood clot doesn’t form or gets knocked loose, exposing the bone and nerves. This can delay healing, but your dentist can help ease symptoms.

👉 Dry socket vs. blood clot

After your dentist pulls the tooth, a blood clot forms in the socket — that’s a good sign. It looks like a dark scab and protects the area while it heals. If you notice the clot, leave it alone and don’t try to touch or remove it. If you don’t see a clot — or if you see bone instead — you might have a dry socket.

✅ Symptoms of dry socket

* Dry socket symptoms may include:

✔️ Mouth and/or facial pain
✔️ Radiating nerve pain from your jaw to your head and neck
✔️ Tooth/gum infection
✔️ Unpleasant taste and/or bad breath

✅ Dry socket causes

A dry socket happens when a blood clot at the site of a tooth extraction breaks down too soon or doesn’t form properly. This clot is essential — it protects the bone and nerves underneath as the area heals. But in some cases, the clot dissolves or dislodges early, exposing the bone and causing pain.

Researchers still don’t know exactly why this happens in some people and not others. However, they’ve identified several risk factors that can increase your chances of developing a dry socket.

✅ Risk factors

* These things can raise your risk for dry socket:

✔️ Hormonal birth control. Birth control pills with estrogen can slow down healing and make dry socket more likely.

✔️ Poor oral hygiene. Not keeping your mouth clean can let bacteria in, which raises your risk.

✔️ Smoking. People who smoke are over three times more likely to develop dry socket than those who don’t.

✔️ Using a straw. Suction from drinking through a straw can dislodge the blood clot. Skip the straw for at least a week.

✔️ Vigorous rinsing. Swishing mouthwash too hard can also knock the clot loose. If your dentist recommends rinsing, tilt your head and let the liquid soak the area instead.

✅ Diagnosis and Tests

* How doctors diagnose dry socket

Dentists usually suspect dry socket when severe pain follows a tooth extraction. They confirm it by checking the empty socket where they removed your tooth.

In some cases, your dentist may also take X-rays to check for any tooth fragments left behind in your jaw.

✅ Management and Treatment

* How is dry socket treated?

Dry socket treatment may include:

✔️ Antibiotics. If your dentist thinks you might have an infection, they can prescribe antibiotics.

✔️ Irrigation. Your dentist may gently flush out the socket with salt water or antibacterial mouthwash.

✔️ Medicated dressings. Your dentist might place numbing medications like lidocaine or eugenol in the empty socket.

✔️ Pain medicine. Over-the-counter medications like acetaminophen (Tylenol®) or ibuprofen (Advil®) can help reduce discomfort.

👉 Recovery time

With proper care, a dry socket usually heals within seven to 10 days. In that time, new tissue forms to cover the exposed area. Brushing and flossing regularly helps keep your mouth healthy and lowers your risk of infection.

⚠️ When should I see my healthcare provider?

Let your dentist know if you’re having pain that keeps you up at night or doesn’t improve with medication. If you can’t reach the provider who did the extraction, head to the nearest urgent care or emergency room.

A recent case of a 3-year-old child presenting with multiple active cavities and a dental abscess is a powerful reminder of the importance of early oral care. At this age, children are not yet capable of understanding the value of their teeth. That responsibility lies entirely with the parents. Neglecting a child's dental hygiene in the early years can lead to serious consequences—not only pain and infection, but long-term effects on growth, confidence, and overall health.

Cavities in young children are not just a minor issue. When left untreated, they can lead to premature tooth loss, making it difficult for the child to chew food properly, speak clearly, or even smile confidently. Infected teeth can also cause severe discomfort, poor sleep, and difficulty eating—negatively impacting their development and quality of life.

Parents and caregivers play the most critical role in prevention. Brushing your child's teeth twice a day with age-appropriate toothpaste is essential, even before all teeth have erupted. Regular visits to a pediatric dentist—ideally starting by the first birthday—can catch problems early and guide parents on the best oral care practices. Equally important is controlling the amount of sugar in their diet, as sugary snacks and drinks are one of the leading causes of early childhood cavities.

Children naturally imitate adults. Turning oral hygiene into a shared daily routine can not only teach them lifelong habits but also make brushing a fun and positive experience. By setting the example and prioritizing prevention, parents can protect their child’s smile—and their future.
