1. Menstruation is NOT an absolute contraindication to dental extraction

* Current evidence-based guidelines do not prohibit routine dental extraction during menstruation.
* Most healthy women can safely undergo extraction with standard precautions.

2. Bleeding considerations

* Some women may experience a slight increase in bleeding tendency due to hormonal and fibrinolytic changes during menstruation.
* In healthy patients, this increase is usually clinically insignificant and can be managed with routine local hemostatic measures.

3. Alveolar Osteitis (Dry Socket)

* Hormonal fluctuations may influence fibrinolysis and clot stability.
* Some studies have suggested a possible association between female s*x hormones and an increased risk of dry socket.
* The evidence is stronger for patients taking oral contraceptive pills than for menstruation itself.

4. Pain and patient comfort

* Menstruating patients may have increased pain sensitivity, fatigue, anxiety, or discomfort.
* Stress tolerance may be reduced in some individuals, making lengthy elective procedures less comfortable.

5. Heavy menstrual bleeding (Menorrhagia)

* Elective extraction may be postponed if the patient is experiencing excessive menstrual bleeding.
* Significant blood loss may increase weakness, dizziness, and patient discomfort during treatment.

6. Severe dysmenorrhea

* Patients suffering from severe menstrual cramps, nausea, headache, or general malaise may prefer postponement of non-urgent procedures.
* Clinical judgment should be exercised based on patient comfort.

7. Bleeding disorders

* Patients with known bleeding disorders require special assessment regardless of menstruation.
* A thorough medical history, coagulation status, and physician consultation may be necessary before extraction.

8. Emergency extractions

* Acute pain, infection, abscess, cellulitis, or other dental emergencies should not be delayed solely because the patient is menstruating.
* Appropriate treatment should be provided with standard hemostatic precautions.

After all, kung pareho namang “bunot,” “pasta,” o “root canal,” bakit minsan magkakaiba ang presyo?

Just because two patients need the same procedure doesn’t mean the treatment will have the same level of difficulty.

For example, a tooth extraction can be very simple for one patient.

Pero sa ibang pasyente, the tooth might be badly broken, impacted, infected, or positioned in a way that requires more time, more instruments, and a more complex approach.

Pareho silang extraction.

Pero magkaiba ang condition.

Magkaiba rin ang treatment requirements.

That’s why dental fees are not based solely on the name of the procedure.

They’re also influenced by:

🦷 The complexity of the case
🦷 The materials that will be used
🦷 The instruments and equipment required
🦷 The time needed to complete the treatment
🦷 The clinical expertise needed to achieve a safe and predictable result

Introducing the ‘WALIS LINIS’ Technique of Toothbrushing (‘Modified Bass Technique’)- for ADOLESCENTS and ADULTS, to prevent GINGIVAL RECESSION (receding gums) which can cause ‘pangingilo’, ‘root decay’, and eventually more periodontal problems that can lead to tooth loss.

BE GENTLE WITH YOUR TEETH. Never use ‘up & down’ or ‘left & right’ strokes. We recommend ‘gentle SWEEPING strokes’ (parang nagwawalis, versus ‘scrubbing’ which can damage the enamel and the gums): For upper teeth, downward sweeping motion; for lower teeth, upward sweeping motion. Use a small, soft-bristled toothbrush, 2 minutes optimum, with a 1.5K ppm fluoride toothpaste. Just spit out the excess toothpaste, do not rinse (to maximize the anti-decay effect of the fluoride ion). Remember, fluoride strengthens the teeth against acids; the toothbrush is used to gently remove the plaque. And just BRUSH DAY & NIGHT. Never overdo brushing.
