Taking the opportunity to learn from skilled experts and masters of Prosthodontics in the Philippines, Dr. Maybelle recently completed the 3-day seminar and hands-on workshop on Fixed Prosthodontics last November 17-19, 2025 held by the Philippine Prosthodontic Society and hosted by Southwestern University College of Dentistry. It was 3 days of non-stop learning of new concepts, refining of skills, and developing new techniques for crowns, implants and veneers that will surely benefit all our beloved patients at Elate Dental Clinic. Dr. Maybelle has been an associate member of the Philippine Prosthodontic Society since 2018, and always looks forward to the current and future trends in dentistry. The dental profession is ever evolving and education is a continuous life-long and fulfilling journey!

Correcting a Discoloration Caused by a Cavity on the Front Tooth ✨

In this case, a patient came to our office bothered by the dark discoloration on her front tooth. We found a cavity that started from in between her teeth, but luckily it did not completely break yet the front enamel of the tooth. The cavity was then cleaned out and replaced with a composite filling to achieve a conservative esthetic outcome.

Just remember, the faster one prioritizes to get a cavity fixed, the better the outcome will be because that would mean there is smaller overall damage to one's tooth. So let's not wait too long to book that next dental visit!

Did you know that you can have local anesthesia for regular dentistry procedures too such as fillings? It's not just for surgeries and root canals! ✨

For our dear patients who feel sensitivity during drilling, or are just afraid to feel discomfort during normal maintenance dental treatments like teeth cleaning and fillings, you always have the option to request for local anesthesia (numbing injections) for your teeth to minimize or eliminate the pain.

Some people avoid the dentist because they always seem to feel pain whenever they visit, but this shouldn't stop you from receiving the dental care you need to help save your teeth and avoid major dental procedures down the line. There are a lot of factors as to why patients would feel pain during a dental procedure. Refreshing a set of old Composite Veneers ✨

Over time, composite veneers tend to discolor and absorb stains, lose its shiny glossy finish, chip and have other textural changes on its surface. Our patient wanted to improve the color of his old veneers to a brighter and more even shade but still wanted them to appear natural. Teeth whitening was done first to enhance the shade of the adjacent and bottom teeth, followed by changing the 6-units composite veneers on the upper with new ones through direct hand composite application. We followed the level of the patient's natural incisal edges as this was a no-drill approach and to prevent chipping, which patient often experienced before if his veneers were lengthened beyond the height of his natural teeth. Don't forget to wear your nightguard after having veneers!

Dr. Maybelle Lim recently attended the 43rd Annual Convention and ASEAN Endodontic Forum 2025 held by the Endodontic Society of the Philippines, from where she had her post-graduate workshop training in Endodontics, as part of her commitment to continuing education for the benefit of her patients.

Here, we see Dr. Maybelle together with the distinguised Day 2 convention lecturers, among which included Dr. Natasha Flake (current President of the American Association of Endodontists) and Dr. Avina Paranjpe (current President of the American Board of Endodontists). She is also joined by Dr. Leonila Tan, one of Dr. Maybelle's university mentors, and fellow graduates of Cebu Doctors' University College of Dentistry also in attendance that day.

It was 2 days of non-stop learning about the latest updates in Root Canal Treatment -- Definitely a great way to learn about diverse treatment strategies to help achieve optimal outcomes for our patients at Elate Dental Clinic 👩‍🏫📖🤓✨️
