To dam or not to dam?
It’s tempting to take the easy way out and avoid rubber dam isolation altogether because admittedly it takes certain effort even for the most experienced of dentists to put in place. Honestly, wouldn’t it be easier to simply stuff rolls of cotton into patient’s mouths for isolation rather than doing this extra step? Cotton roll isolation is usual in every dental practice except for RCT procedures in which rubber dam isolation is ‘standard of care’.
But when the working field is rid of contamination from bacteria bearing saliva, blood and crevicular fluid, success from simple to complex dental procedures is a given.
Take a look at some of the cases that were done in the clinic and be the judge. Here in Dental Effects Studio we willingly take this step for patients because we know that treatment when done in a clean, dry and controlled environment results in high quality restorations, and this is the standard we aim for.
