Third molars or wisdom teeth are the last set of teeth to erupt. They are called “wisdom teeth” because they usually appear during a person’s late teens or early twenties (which has historically been called the “age of wisdom”).

Reasons for third molar removal include the

Unintentional falls, collisions, and leisure activities are the most common reasons for traumatic dental injuries, especially as children learn to crawl, walk, run, and embrace their physical environment. They most commonly occur between 2 and 6 years of age with injuries to periodontal tissues occurring most frequently.

Management of traumatic dental injuries in children is distressing for both the child and the parents.

Correct treatment and follow-up are important in order to give the child the best possible short-term and long-term care.
