Our Third Quarter Community Service Program at the Missionaries of Charity–Home of Joy in Barangay Banago, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines, was blessed to be graced by the presence of four Missionary Sisters: Sr. Mariam Tar, Sr. Jyothika, Sr. Verna Claire, and Sr. Marialena, as some of the sisters are on retreat.

We also have a wonderful guest from Manila, a good friend, Dr. Christine Gelone Gomez, Past President of PAFJO–TMJ Orofacial Pain and Airway, for our MOU. Thank you, Dr. Gomez, for honoring us with your presence and supporting this meaningful event. She really went the extra mile to be with us today.

This program was also made possible by the support of our Hotel and Management Head, Dr. Tricia Ann Tipon, and our co-chair, Dr. John Rolland Valladarez, who spoke about management, processing, and handling of food for all community workers. We also had a lecture presented by dental staff Crissandra, Leanne, and Myra, with assistance from Daryl Ann, Dhana, and Jerry.

As CHMSUans, I, together with Dr. Jed Ariel Legislador, Dentist - Fortune Towne Campus, Dr. Juville Ann Mansader, Dentist - Alijis Campus, and Dr. Tanya Julyn Paez, Dentist- Binalbagan Campus. Together with our nurses and assistants, Ms. Geraldine Edaño, Sir Stephen Cabardo, Sir Pre Canieso, and Ms. Crisney Golipapa provided medical and dental treatment.
We are now in the second year of our three-year community service project entitled “Aging Gracefully: URUSA—which means UR Unique, Special, and Appreciated!”

As we continue this journey,
Under Philippine law, a senior citizen is defined as a person aged 60 or older.
However, geriatric care is determined not only by age but also by a person’s overall health, level of frailty, independence, and specific medical needs. That is why our care is thoughtfully designed to meet the individual needs of all our beloved beneficiaries.

Together, let us continue moving forward on our journey toward good oral health, better overall health, and aging with dignity and grace.

Orientation:

A healthy mouth, such as your teeth, gums, cheeks, tongue, lips and jaws allows you to eat properly, speak clearly, smile confidently, and help you focus better on your studies.

Oral health
is important because
It is closely connected to your overall health and well-being.

While, poor oral hygiene, on the other hand can lead to tooth decay, gum disease, pain, bad breath, infection,
and even missed school days.

This dental orientation is a good platform to help you know and understand that we have a dental clinic in our university, located on the student center's ground floor.

Learning how to care for your mouth, which includes your teeth, gums, and jaws, prevent dental problems, recognize early warning signs, and know when to visit the clinic and dentist.

Here, you have privileges that you can avail, Such as:
-annual dental check-ups, -consultations,
-extractions,
And We do have Programs and activities like:
- Dental orientation,
- Dental Health Month,
and - community service every quarter.
And I'm inviting you all to come, join, inquire and be a dental advocate!

Remember:
