A team of Japanese scientists has achieved a groundbreaking feat by discovering a drug capable of stimulating the growth of new teeth, slated for a market release by the year 2030.

Hailing from the “Toregem Biopharma Co” laboratory, the team has announced plans to initiate clinical trials on adult participants in July 2024. These trials are intended to validate the drug’s safety profile, following a successful preliminary testing phase conducted on mice in 2018.

The laboratory underscores the prevalence of latent tooth buds within the majority of individuals, which harbor the potential to develop into new teeth. The drug is formulated using antibodies that counteract the protein responsible for hindering tooth growth.

This groundbreaking medication operates by rekindling the growth process within tooth buds, thus prompting the regeneration of teeth. Notably, the team administered the drug to mice with dental structures closely resembling those of humans, resulting in the emergence of new teeth.
