Sharing our progress with our 9 year old patient with cleft lip & palate ✨

The family came in to our clinic asking for options on how to restore her teeth. Sadly, they said she grew to be shy and lost confidence because she was often bullied due to her appearance 😔. She also has a hard time speaking and eating properly.

As she is still a growing child, we decided it is best to place a "temporary" denture, which will be replaced through the years as there are still erupting upper teeth.

After a few weeks, the denture was finally delivered, and it definitely made a big difference! Further observation is needed since the patient is still starting to get used to having teeth 😅 This was a difficult case to handle but we do our best to restore our patients' functionality and confidence to smile ✨

Children with cleft lip and palate (often termed as "bingot" and/or "ngongo") are often faced with challenges in terms of aesthetics and function. Their upper teeth and jaw are also affected resulting to abnormal development/eruption. Sadly, they're also often bullied because of their appearance. Such as the case of our patient.
