Patient came to our clinic and requested braces to fix her teeth.
Sometimes, in cases with missing front tooth like this, braces alone will never achieve the look desired by the patient and dentist. Braces treatment may be complemented with cosmetic dentistry for the best results.
In this case, either porcelain veneers or composite veneers can be done for the patient after braces. She chose composite veneers as it is less expensive but still produces a satisfactory outcome.
Braces were done first to align her smile. After the braces were removed, her gums were reshaped and her lateral incisor was made up so that it looks like a central incisor.
Notice the multiple shades of her natural teeth? A single composite veneer shade will not work. So in order to mimic the shades, Dr Ju utilized a special layering technique using a blend of multiple composite veneer shades to replicate the colors.
Porcelain veneers are still available as an option should she decide to upgrade later. Porcelain veneers have better shading and translucency, giving the smile that extra natural look.
