Who knew we would get this far. The craziest turnout in our region. Workshops're all full. Registration had to stop a month before the event. In a lot of ways, we achieved many historic milestones this year.

Before you comment anything, I want all of you to know that my team deserves all the credits. There were so many hiccups, so much of stress, so many unexpected problems.

I owe too much to my committee members. To Natrah Ahmad Fuad I am sorry I bogged you down with so much of responsibilities. You stepped up into so many roles without being asked. You are always way more organized that I am. Thank you for the countless manual work behind the scene.

To wanfarhana, we were both bidan terjun. I too jumped into the role 2 years ago without any prior warning. You did so much that the society owes you a full time salary. From making initiatives to deal with the accountant to manually check the registration one by one. So much of sacrifice behind the scene.

To poornima, who voluntarily devoted some significant time despite your responsibility to work and time being away from family, thank you for allowing me to count of you in desperate times.

Dr Benjamin Lim. Endodontist. Kuala Lumpur 🇲🇾 you have always been very supportive to the society work from the very beginning. You have said nothing about your own troubles and yet you have always been helpful.

kuantanendo How will I go by without you in my team? I owe you a lot in inspiring me to go further in Endo. From our time in McDonalds Taman Melawati, to the how to scam people in zoom meeting. They are all keys in setting the direction of MES today.

Zehan Kassim🇲🇾. I hope the lessons we encountered will stay with us life long. I know you have your own commitments and I appreciate that you gave all you have at the time we need you.

To Dr. Rachel Lee I think both of us are still clueless in troubleshooting AV problems. 😂 We just went with all we had and tried to solve everything. Thanks for the heartfelt encouragement. You have been very very supportive even with your own personal problems.

To Muhammad Khiratti. Tq for always having my back. The person I can count on at any time. If we're to swap, I know u can do much better.

Fly over. Lecture. Fly back.

A quick trip down to Johor for the 13th Southern Dental Congress to share on “CBCT-Guided Shaping Strategies in Contemporary Endodontics.”

Always a pleasure sharing some endodontics, catching up with colleagues, and exchanging a few ideas along the way.

I was once asked what kind of endodontic file I would want to see in the future. My answer was simple: a file that cannot fracture.

Unfortunately, we’re not quite there.

At IFEA Sydney, I came across a new device from Woodpecker KP named Monolizh, that is designed to test and track the fatigue resistance of an endodontic file.

By real time monitoring of file during use, the idea is that it may provide some warning when an instrument is approaching its limit, before actual separation occurs inside the canal.

An “unbreakable” file may still be a dream, but perhaps the next closest thing is knowing when a file is getting close to failure.

A novel concept, and definitely something I’m curious to see in action.

Not sure when this will be available in Malaysia, but I’ll certainly be watching.

CBCT IS POWERFUL—BUT IT DOESN’T SEE EVERYTHING.

A 3D scan can reveal complex canal anatomy, hidden roots, unusual curvatures and the relationship of lesions to surrounding structures.

But CBCT has several important blind spots:

1) Secondary caries may not be clearly detected
2) Metal posts can create beam-hardening artefacts that obscure the surrounding tooth. The differential radiopacity with GP is often poor.
3) Separated instruments may be difficult to identify or accurately assess, especially beside radiopaque filling materials
4) Fine details may appear less clearly than on a good periapical radiograph

The best diagnosis does not come from choosing the most advanced image. It comes from selecting the right image for the right question. Thorough pre-operative clinical examination is still the most important step.

Speaking in front of fellow endodontists from around the world is both a privilege and a humbling experience. Happy to share ideas, exchange perspectives, and learn from colleagues who share the same passion for pushing endodontics forward. Wish I had more time to lecture. For those who attended, I hope you enjoyed it.
