When you’re done for the day but your dentist is a certified yapper 🗣️

Post op instructions are an important part of many dental procedures, so don’t be in a rush to hop off the dental chair until we’ve gone through the do’s and don’ts. We’ll even make sure you have them in writing in case you need a reminder!

How do astronauts brush their teeth in space?

It started with me lurking on Instagram scrolling through memes about the Blue Origin space launch, which led to a reminder about a book I have been meaning to read, Orbital by Samantha Harvey. The author described how astronauts brushed their teeth and I found myself simultaneously surprised, but not surprised by the answer.

Astronauts use standard toothpaste and toothbrush to brush their teeth. They wet the toothbrush with a sphere of water, dispense toothpaste and brush like how we all would. But instead of spitting out the toothpaste, they swallow it. After that, the used toothbrush is cleaned by wetting it with another sphere of water. The astronaut then sucks out the water from the wet toothbrush. Done!

Not sure how this information will ever be useful to you - perhaps if you’re on a game show someday. Happy weekend! 🛸

Not all wisdom teeth need to be taken out. Wisdom tooth removal is usually indicated if it causes food trap leading to decay, or in situations where episodes of infection and inflammation have occurred.

Wisdom tooth removal may or may not involve surgery, and this depends on the position of the tooth. Taking an X-ray helps us visualise and plan how to go about removing it.

However, if your wisdom teeth are in an ideal position for function, and are easy to care for, you get to keep ‘em!
