Berdasarkan garis panduan yang dikeluarkan oleh Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM), prosedur rawatan pergigian tidak akan membatalkan puasa dengan syarat pesakit tidak menelan sebarang bahan secara sengaja ketika rawatan djialankan.

Secara asasnya, segala bentuk penjagaan dan rawatan gigi dan mulut boleh dilakukan meskipun seseorang itu berpuasa.

Pengamal pergigian juga harus mengambil langkah berhati-hati supaya pesakit tidak tertelan sebarang bahan atau ubatan sepanjang prosedur rawatan dijalankan.
