🦷 Can a "Dead" Tooth Keep Growing? 🦷

Case Study: Saving an 11-Year-Old’s Smile! ✨
At Klinik Pergigian Utama, we believe every natural tooth is worth fighting for—especially in our young patients! 🛡️

Recently, an 11-year-old patient visited us with a painful and mobile lower premolar. A standard root canal wasn't an option yet, but thanks to a specialized procedure and incredible patient compliance, we achieved a "miracle" result.

Below step by step of the journey! ➡️

📸 The Clinical Journey
1️⃣ The Roadblock 🚧
(Photo 1: Pre-operative X-ray & Open Apex) X-rays showed deep decay reaching the pulp chamber. The nerves were unresponsive, indicating the tooth was non-vital (dead) due to infection. Because the patient is young, the root hadn't finished forming, leaving a wide "Open Apex" at the bottom. Without a "bottom" to the tooth, a standard root canal cannot be sealed!

2️⃣ Starting the Healing 💊
(Photo 2: Intracanal Medicament placed in root canal space until open apex)
After discussing with the family, we chose Apexogenesis to to induce closure of the root. We placed medication into the root canal space to eliminate infection and stimulate the body to "close the door" at the root tip.

3️⃣ Nature Takes Over! 🌱
(Photo 3: Calcific Barrier Formed)
A few months later... SUCCESS! A hard calcific barrier formed at the root end. The body built its own natural seal, providing the solid foundation we needed for the next step.

4️⃣ Precision Work 🎯
(Photo 4: Checking Master GP of root canal treatment)
With the root now closed, we proceeded with a conventional root canal. Here, we are checking the fit of the "Master GP" to ensure it rests perfectly against that new natural barrier.

5️⃣ Treatment Complete ✅
(Photo 5: Completion of Root Canal Treatment)
The canal is successfully sealed! All signs of infection, pain, and mobility disappeared. But the real "magic" happens during the healing phase...

6️⃣ One Year Later: A Perfect Result! 🌟
(Photo 6: One-year review showing a fully formed root)
Look at the growth! One year later, the root has fully matured, reaching a length and strength similar to the healthy adjacent teeth. A tooth that was once "lost" is now a permanent, healthy part of her smile! 💖

✨ The Secret Ingredient? COMPLIANCE! 🙌
This success was only possible because our patient and her guardian had high oral health awareness. They stuck to every 6-month and 1-year review! Great results happen when the dentist and patient work as a team. 🤝

Does your child have a complex dental issue? Don't lose hope—advanced solutions are available to keep their smiles whole!

Is your wisdom tooth causing a stir? 🦷🤔

Wisdom teeth are usually the last to arrive, but sometimes they don’t quite find their "fit." When they grow at an angle or get stuck against neighboring teeth, we call them impacted wisdom teeth.

Why does it matter?
Because of their tricky position, food often gets trapped. This can lead to:

⚠️ Persistent pain and swelling

⚠️ Higher risk of cavities (caries)

⚠️ Damage to healthy adjacent teeth

The Good News:
Removing an impacted tooth is a straightforward, single-visit procedure. Our goal is efficiency and comfort, using precise techniques with minimal gum and bone involvement to ensure the least amount of trauma and a quick recovery.

Don't wait for the ache!
If you think you have an impacted tooth, it’s time for a check-up. Let’s keep your smile healthy and pain-free.

In the dental world, those tiny gaps you see between your teeth near the gum line are known as gingival embrasures, but they are most commonly called "black triangles."

Gum shrinkage is a common feature seen in patients and it can be due to many factors such as poor oral health, incorrect tooth brushing methods and etc. Frequently, patients' teeth will appear to be 'longer' than before as the gums shrink and 'black triangle' empty spaces may appear between teeth.

This patient of ours presented with a 'black triangle' as mentioned, localised to his lower front central teeth. The patient was concerned that his smile has become less aesthetic now. After a discussion, we opted to use filling material to mimic tooth structure and close the triangular empty space.

The patient was happy with the results after the fillings were done and we were glad to have been able to solve the patient's concerns in a single visit.

In the world of orthodontics, a Bimax (short for Bimaxillary Protrusion) case is one of the more common yet transformative treatments.

Essentially, "Bimax" means that both the upper and lower jaws (and the teeth within them) are angled forward more than is considered typical for a person's facial profile.

Below is the result of our cases before and after braces treatment.

Transforming a Diastema into a Dazzling Grin!

Ever wonder about those charming spaces between teeth? They're called diastemas, and while some love them, others may seek a smile without the gap.

While it can occur naturally and have no negative effects, it is commonly considered to be unaesthetic.

When it is a cosmetic concern, a diastema can be treated by restoration with filing material, veneers or braces.

Our recent patient had a diastema that, while a natural part of her smile, felt like it wasn't fully expressing her confidence. We collaborated to find the perfect solution: gentle restorations that closed the gap while preserving her unique beauty.

Forget harsh procedures! We believe in minimal tooth alteration and color-matched artistry, ensuring a natural, radiant outcome. See for yourself how our patient's smile blossomed!

Do you have a diastema you're curious about? Come to consult us! We can help you find the perfect smile solution for your unique needs.
