Can a cracked tooth be saved?

If the crack has extended into the pulp, the tooth can be treated with a root canal procedure and a crown to protect the crack from spreading.

However, if the crack extends below the gum line, it is no longer treatable, and the tooth cannot be saved and will need to be extracted.

Scaling is a common dental procedure to remove hardened plaque called calculus which causes teeth damage and gum diseases. As this procedure may leave the teeth rough, polishing is followed to smooth them out.

Ini namanya rubber dam, digunakan untuk asingkan gigi untuk rawatan saraf. Tujuannya ialah:
1- gigi tidak tercemar dari bakteria di dalam air liur semasa nak cuci saluran saraf (ada banyak bakteria dlm air liur kalau nak tau)
2- Untuk keselamatan dan keselesaan pesakit, rawatan akar guna banyak alat file (jarum)
yang halus dan tajam (bahaya kalau tertelan).
3- cecair kimia yg digunakan untuk membersihkan saluran akar tidak ditelan oleh pesakit, dan akan disedut semula.
4- pesakit boleh relax, pejam mata, nak tidur pun boleh, sebab tak perlu nak concentrate buka mulut, sebab ada rubber dam, mulut tak boleh tutup.
5- Succes rate lebih tinggi dengan kaedah total aseptic ini.

Adakah setiap gigi boleh buat root canal/rawatan saraf?

Secara amnya setiap gigi boleh jalani rawatan saraf, termasuklah gigi susu. Biasanya doktor akan cek dulu keadaan gigi, tahap infeksi pagi gig dan gusi, serta kerosakan pada struktur gigi. Kalau struktur gigi masih kuat, doktor akan syorkan rawatan saraf. Ini dapat mennyelamatkan gigi dari dicabut.

Boleh bincang kos rawatan dulu dengan doktor, Kos yang terlibat biasanya adalah:
Kos rawatan saraf
Kos x ray dan ubat-ubatan
Kos tampalan, sebelum dan selepas rawatan saraf
Kos untuk buat crown (amat disyorkan selepas buat rawatan saraf)

Doktor juga boleh buat rawatan emergency (pulp extirpation) untuk hillangkan sakit dahulu, selepas tu boleh buat appointment seterusnya untuk rawatan saraf.

Jadi janganlah tergesa-gesa untuk cabut gigi ketika gig anda tengah sakit!
