Dr. Hoo Yin Shi Dr. Hoo Yin Shi is a Dental Surgeon with special interest in minimally invasive aesthetic and preven She is now registered as a qualified dentist in Australia.

Dr. Hoo graduated from the National University of Malaysia with a Gold Medal Award (Best All-Round Student) in year 2009. Besides, she was the recipient of the Honor Scholarship Award (2004-2005) which was awarded to the top achiever of the faculty. In June 2013, Dr Hoo completed all written and oral examinations for admission into the Australian Dental Council (ADC). In July 2014, Dr Hoo was admi

tted as a member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, MFDS RCS (Edin) through a series of examination. Dr Hoo was certified as an Invisalign doctor in March 2013, after attending the certification course organized by Invisalign. Dr Hoo is currently attending a number of certificate courses for dental implantology. In June 2014, she completed a course in Boston, USA with the International Team of Implantology (ITI). Besides being a firm believer of evidence based dentistry, Dr. Hoo is a keen researcher. She has received a Gold Medal for winning SEAADE-GC Dental Asia Student Prevention Table Clinician Competition in year 2009. Most recently, she was awarded the Best Presenter Award in oral presentation at CDA/MDA Joint International Scientific Convention (2012). Prior to private practice, Dr. Hoo was appointed as a Dental Officer in the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and Pediatric Dentistry by Ministry of Health, Malaysia. Besides her hospital based experience, she has worked along with other specialists which gave her the opportunities to practice all aspects of dentistry and to serve people of diverse cultures. Dr. Hoo has been actively involved in organizing dental conferences to benefit the profession and volunteered in several dental health promotion campaigns.

Malaysia’s First Dentists’ Pickleball Cup! 🎾🏆✨

What a legendary day. 🤍

Seeing dentists come together from the north and south of Malaysia, and even all the way from Bangkok, not for a lecture, not in scrubs, but on the pickleball court was something truly special.

Competition, laughter, friendships, sportsmanship and plenty of very serious d**king 😂🎾. I love seeing our dental community connect in a completely different way.

Belinda and I somehow fought our way into the Plate Tier Quarter Finals! 😂 Thank you Belinda for being the partner who is ALWAYS full of energy. ClinCheckMates survived our first tournament! ♟️🤍✨

And a very special congratulations to McKenzie & Daniel, the champions of the first-ever Dentists’ Pickleball Cup in Malaysia! 🏆 You two officially made history!

Also so proud to see Smile & Co. represented on court by Dr David & Dr Melisa not just for how they played, but for the amazing sportsmanship and spirit throughout the tournament. That makes me even prouder. 🤍

Meet CLINCHECKMATES — two dentists, one team, and probably an unhealthy obsession with planning every single move. 😂

In Invisalign, Belinda and I spend our days planning movements down to the tiniest detail.

On the pickleball court?

Same philosophy. Slightly less predictable outcome. 🤣

We analyse. We strategise. We communicate. And occasionally… we just whack the ball and hope for the best. 🎾

But here’s our problem:

Our ClinChecks may be advanced.
Our paddles are due for an upgrade. 👀
And if there’s one thing two Align girls understand, it’s this:
when something can be improved, you don’t settle, you upgrade. 😎

So why do the ClinCheckMates need these 11SIX24 paddles?

Because every checkmate needs the right move…

A full day of learning, reconnecting and exchanging ideas with the dental community.

Today’s focus on biomechanics and interceptive orthodontic management in complex growing patients was a great reminder that early treatment is not simply about moving teeth — it’s about understanding growth, timing, biology and biomechanics, and knowing when and how to intervene.

A special thank you to Dr. Alessandro Mario Greco from Rome, orthodontist, academic and international speaker, for generously sharing his knowledge and clinical experience. With more than 25 years of experience in orthodontics, and a longstanding passion for clear aligner therapy, his dedication to continuously learning, teaching and pushing the boundaries of orthodontic treatment is truly inspiring.

The more we understand the biomechanics behind what we do, the more intentional and predictable our treatment planning becomes.

A proud little milestone for us at Smile & Co. 💙

Smile & Co. is home to two Align Faculty members, Dr. Hoo and Dr. Praveen, making us the only dental clinic in Malaysia with two Align Faculty under one roof. 🇲🇾✨

For us, being faculty is more than teaching. It means constantly learning, exchanging ideas and staying at the forefront of digital orthodontics, then bringing that knowledge and experience back to the patients we care for every day.

Grateful for the journey, the people we learn from, and the opportunity to keep growing together.
