Root Canals Are Painful

Another ongoing myth about root canals is that the procedure is painful. However, the AAE explains that endodontists are experts in pain management and will use modern techniques and anesthetics to make the procedure comfortable. The ultimate goal of a root canal procedure is to end the pain caused by the affected tooth that initially brought you to the endodontist.

Drinking green tea is a great way to help keep your tongue clean. Doing so greatly reduces the bacteria in your mouth. Therefore, drinking green tea helps to kill off odor-causing bacteria that can linger on the tongue.

▪️ Gingivitis
Most people develop gingivitis when plaque stays on gum lines too long. Plaque refers to the debris and bacteria that stick to your teeth.

▪️ Periodontitis
Periodontal disease (periodontitis) can occur when gingivitis becomes advanced. Periodontal disease is an infection of the gums, jawbone, and supportive tissues that connect your teeth and gums. Periodontitis can cause your teeth to loosen or fall out.

To reduce pain and aid your recovery, it can be helpful to:

🦷 use painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen (always read and follow the manufacturer's dosage instructions) – there's some evidence to suggest that ibuprofen is the best painkiller to take after having wisdom teeth removed
🦷 avoid strenuous activity and exercise for a few days
🦷 use an extra pillow to support your head at night
🦷 for 24 hours, avoid rinsing, spitting, hot drinks or anything else that may dislodge the blood clots that form in the empty tooth socket (they help the healing process)
🦷 avoid smoking and drinking alcohol for 24 hours
🦷 eat soft or liquid food for a few days and chew with your other teeth

Treatment options:

Figuring out the source of the stress and addressing it can eliminate the grinding. Perform a relaxing routine before bed, such as light yoga, a warm bath or a cup of herbal tea. Some people say that placing a warm cloth over their jaw as they go to sleep helps reduce grinding and clenching.

See your dentist to determine if any damage has occurred as a result of grinding your teeth. Your dentist may suggest that you wear a night guard while you sleep. This is a device worn inside the mouth to cushion teeth during grinding and clenching. In severe cases, your doctor may recommend jaw exercises to help soothe and relax overworked muscles.

In most cases, your gum tissue will not come back once you’ve lost it. It’s gone for good. However, this doesn’t mean you’re completely out of luck. With the right periodontal treatment, you may be able to halt the progression of gum recession.

For example, if you have gum recession due to gum disease, treatment like scaling and root planing (deep cleaning) can be used to eliminate bacteria, restore the health of the gums, and stop the further loss of gum tissue.

A shelf life is determined only by the effectiveness of the ingredients in the toothpaste, so there's no direct danger to your health in using a recently expired tube at a pinch.

But, it does impact the effectiveness of preventing tooth decay and cavities if you use expired toothpaste over the long term. Fluoride in toothpaste can start to break down, decreasing your protection from bacteria-causing decay.

If you want to improve your smile, dental veneers are a simple option. Veneers are thin coverings that are placed over the front (visible) part of the tooth. They look like natural teeth.
