“Isn’t this jaw position normal? It runs in our family.”
This little guy came in with his dad, who was actually our denture patient. While doing his very first dental check-up, we noticed his lower jaw sat ahead of his upper jaw — what we call a skeletal Class III.
His parents thought it was normal because it runs in the family. I explained that while genetics plays a part, early growth guidance with a facemask + palatal expander can make a huge difference if we start early.
They trusted us to start, and this champ was incredibly compliant.
✨Results after just 3 months:
• Softer, more balanced profile that family immediately noticed
• He can finally bite with his front teeth
• Parents are thrilled, and so are we
Moral of the story: Don’t wait and see. Early checks = more options + simpler treatment later.
Worried about your child’s bite or jaw growth? Book an early orthodontic screening. The best time for a first check is by age 7.
