To the naked eye, this case looked like a simple matter of closing gaps and correcting an overbite. However, X-rays told a different story: an impacted upper left canine growing off-course.

It is essential for the clinician to identify the cause/ etiology of the problem, and treat accordingly. Also, the teeth has to be in a good and harmonious position, in relation to the facial features.

Because premolars are some of the last permanent teeth to come in, they can easily get stuck (or impacted) if there isn't enough room left for them. A common cause of this? Losing baby teeth too early!

This is why it is so important to keep baby teeth healthy until they are ready to fall out naturally.
If a premolar doesn't have enough room to erupt, don't worry—we can use braces to create the necessary space and gently guide the tooth into its perfect spot.
