They are principally vascular in nature. The pregnancy epulis may regress spontaneously at term or decrease in size. Because the hormonal influence, only those epulides that cannot be manage conservatively (scaling and good oral hygiene measure) to term should be excised.

Ulcerative lesion
The most ulcerative lesion seen is traumatic ulcer. These ulcers must be associated with a history of trauma or a localized cause.
If the ulcer is persistent suspect another underlying cause for oral ulceration (viral, connective tissue disease or medication) or neoplasia.

Soft tissue cysts -Mucoceles
Most frequently encouter soft tissue cyst of the oral cavity are the minor salivary gland cysts. These can be formed by mucous extravasation (into the adjacent tissues) or mucous retention (within the small ducts) and seen most frequently in the lower lip and floor of mouth. Mucoceles are normally treated by excising an allipse of soft tissue and enucleating the lesion

Cyst of the mouth and jaws are fairly common and their management is an essential component of oral surgery.
Three major subdivisions of intraosseous cysts were originally proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO)
1.Odontogenic cysts (eg radicular cyst, dentigerous cyst and odontogenic keratocystic)
2.Non-odontogenic cysts (eg nasopalatine duct cyst)
3.Non-epithelial cysts (eg solitary bone cyst and aneurysmal bone cyst)

Four muscles of mastication involved temporalis, masseter, medial pterygoid and lateral pterygoid muscle. All these muscles function for elevation except lateral pterygoid muscle for depression of the jaw.
