Our patient wanted to replace a missing upper right first molar with a dental implant. Assessment revealed only 5.5 mm of available bone height, which can be challenging for implant placement in the upper back tooth region.
Using a minimally invasive technique known as a crestal sinus lift with osseodensification, we were able to gently increase the available bone height and successfully place a Biomate SWISS dental implant (5.5 mm × 8 mm).
Advances in implant dentistry now allow many patients with reduced bone volume to receive dental implants safely and predictably, often with less invasive procedures.
