Saving a tooth, one canal at a time. 🦷

When decay progresses deep into the tooth, bacteria can reach the pulp, causing inflammation, infection & pain.

Root canal treatment (RCT) involves removing the infected pulp, cleaning & disinfecting the canal system & sealing it to prevent reinfection.

The goal is to eliminate infection while preserving the natural tooth. A proper final restoration is equally important to protect the tooth & restore its function.

Because saving a natural tooth is always worth considering. ✨

This is how a 3/4 crown looks like. It’s a conservative approach to restore a heavily damaged tooth while preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible.

Unlike a conventional full crown, a 3/4 crown covers most of the tooth’s functional surfaces while leaving a portion of the natural tooth structure untouched.

Why consider a 3/4 crown?
• 🦷 Preserves more healthy natural tooth structure
• 💪 Provides strength & protection to a weakened tooth
• ✨ More conservative than a full-coverage crown
• 🌿 Maintains a more natural tooth profile & emergence
• 🛡️ Helps protect the tooth from further structural breakdown

A great option when strength is needed, but preserving natural tooth structure is still the priority.

A well-organised Standardisation and Calibration Workshop conducted among the Prosthodontics lecturers at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), focusing on competency assessment & the standards governing fixed & removable prosthodontics.

Interestingly, this was the first experience seeing prosthodontists themselves being “calibrated”. 😄

Kudos to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Ting Khee for the insightful sharing session. We learned a great deal from today’s session, particularly on the importance of consistency & standardisation in clinical education and assessment.

This case combines a resin-bonded bridge (RBB) & full-metal onlay to restore missing tooth structure while preserving as much natural tooth tissue as possible.

The full-metal onlays provide strength & protection for heavily restored posterior teeth, while the resin-bonded bridge offers a conservative & minimally invasive approach to replace a missing tooth.

Veneers are not simply about making teeth “look perfect.”

Veneers are thin restorations bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve their shape, proportion, colour & overall appearance.

But a good veneer case goes beyond choosing a shade & making teeth look whiter.

🦷 Tooth preparation matters.
🦷 Proportion & symmetry matter.
🦷 Occlusion & function matter.
🦷 Gingival health matters.
🦷 Most importantly, preserving healthy tooth structure matters.

Happy Birthday to our Principal Dentist Prof Dr Dell Taufik , our leader & the person who has taught us that being a good boss is not merely about leading a team, but about caring for the people within it. 🤍

Thank you for always choosing empathy over judgment, kindness over authority & for putting others before yourself even when no one asks you to.

There are people who lead by giving instructions & there are people who lead by quietly giving a part of themselves to those around them. You have always been the latter.

Perhaps not every sacrifice is seen. Not every kindness is acknowledged. Not every burden you carry is known. But we hope you know that the people around you feel it, appreciate it, & are grateful for it.
