Patient came for scaling and polishing appointment. Upon examination, Dr noted a missing tooth in the lower right back region and advised replacement to prevent supra-eruption of the opposing upper tooth and shifting of the adjacent teeth.

Various tooth replacement options were discussed with the patient (denture,bridge,implant). Due to budget considerations, the patient opted for a flexible denture. The patient reported that the denture was comfortable to wear and was very pleased with the outcome.

MINOR ORAL SURGERY
(PEMBEDAHAN KECIL GIGI BONGSU)

The patient presented with a complaint of pain in the lower right posterior tooth for the past one week. She reported experiencing similar pain in the same region previously, which subsided temporarily after taking medication.

Upon thorough clinical examination, the affected tooth was found to be impacted and required minor surgical removal. The procedure, including the steps involved and the expected outcome, was explained in detail to the patient. The patient understood the explanation and consented to undergo the minor surgical procedure.

At the one-week postoperative review, the surgical site was healing well. The patient reported no pain or swelling, and the overall healing was satisfactory.

Kenapa scaling gigi perlu dibuat?

Scaling gigi ialah prosedur untuk membuang plak dan karang gigi (tartar) yang melekat pada permukaan gigi dan di celah gusi. Walaupun anda menggosok gigi setiap hari, karang gigi yang telah mengeras tidak boleh dibuang dengan berus gigi biasa dan perlu dibersihkan oleh doktor gigi.

Patient requested clear aligner treatment. She had previously undergone conventional metal braces treatment, but there was some mild relapse over time. ( Long term retainer wear is very important to maintain the corrected position!)
Patient disliked the spaces on her upper and lower teeth.
Patient preferred not to wear metal braces again as her work requires frequent face-to-face interactions and conversations with many people.
She was also unable to commit to more frequent dental visits required for conventional braces treatment.
Thus, clear aligners was suggested to the patient.
Treatment was completed within only 3 months.
Patient is extremely happy with the final outcome.
