A long journey - it started back in 2021. Patient came with missing both upper second premolars and all 4 lower premolars. She request if it’s possible to fix her gummy smile and bimax protrusive side profile.

After few years of orthodontic treatment with self-ligating brackets and TADs, missing lower premolars were replaced with 2 implants. Now she’s able to smile with confidence.

Vertiprep with BOPT requires good communication between the dentist and lab technician. Especially on where to place the margin, the area to glaze or polish on the final crown etc.

It demands more from both the dentist and the patient - time , precision and patience.

Compared to conventional crown prep, BOPT technique gives us the advantage of modifying the shape of the soft tissue, formation of the scalloped architecture, control of the emergence profile and margin position— factors that affect the long-term stability of the pericoronal soft tissue.
