BATU PAHAT, 26 July – Persatuan Penganut Dewa Hock Teck Shi, in collaboration with the Rotary Satellite Club of Batu Pahat - Insight and the St.John Ambulans Malaysia Kawasan Batu Pahat, will jointly organize the “Protecting Lives with AED, Building a CPR-Ready Community” programme.
The event will be held on Sunday, 9 August, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Persatuan Penganut Dewa Hock Teck Shi, Taman Puteri Indah. Admission is free, and members of the public are welcome to participate.
The temple has recently installed an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) outside its premises, making it accessible to the public during emergencies. This initiative aims to enhance public awareness and practical skills in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an AED, empowering the community to respond effectively in life-threatening situations.
The organizer, Mr. Five, said that first aid knowledge is not only for healthcare professionals but is an essential life skill that everyone should possess. In emergencies, knowing how to provide proper first aid can help save valuable time and significantly improve a patient’s chances of survival.
Angeline Hoo Pei Pei , the Charter Chair of the Rotary Satellite Club of Batu Pahat – Insight, said the club is pleased to collaborate with St. John Ambulance and appreciates its strong support for the programme. She expressed hope that the partnership would promote greater public awareness of emergency response, reinforcing the belief that “Everyone Can Learn CPR, Everyone Can Save a Life.”
Mr. Tan Kim Ping, Area Commander of St. John Ambulance, Batu Pahat, said that qualified instructors from the organization will conduct the training, providing participants with an understanding of how to respond to sudden cardiac arrest, while demonstrating proper CPR techniques and the correct use of an AED.
He added that participants will not only gain theoretical knowledge but will also have the opportunity to engage in hands-on practical sessions, allowing them to better understand and master the emergency response process.
The organizers warmly invite members of the public to join the programme, learn lifesaving skills, and contribute to safeguarding the lives of themselves, their families, and the wider community.
