Root canal treatment is a procedure that is used to treat infection at the center of tooth (pulp). By doing root canal treatment, the bacteria inside the dental pulp will be eliminated, preventing reinfection and save natural tooth from extraction.

Common causes of damage to the pulp include:
- deep decay due to an untreated cavity
- chipped or cracked in tooth
- Dental trauma eg: fell down
- multiple dental procedures on the same tooth that hit the pulp

Most common symptoms of damaged pulp include :
-Severe pain while chewing
-Persistent toothache
-Gum swelling
-Pimples on gum
-Deep decay
