💡 Did You Know This About Mucoceles? 🤔
👄 Many people think a mucocele is just a simple “cyst” on the lip, but here’s the surprising part: most mucoceles are not true cysts at all! 🧬
🔍 They usually develop after a small lip bite or minor trauma that damages the duct of a minor salivary gland. As a result, saliva leaks into the surrounding tissue, forming a soft, clear, or bluish bubble-like swelling. 💧
😲 Even more interesting, some mucoceles can temporarily disappear and then come back, causing many people to ignore them for months.
✅ Tip for parents and patients: If you notice a soft lump on the lip that changes in size, disappears, or returns, avoid popping or manipulating it. Visit your dentist for a proper evaluation and diagnosis. 🦷✨
