Faculté de Médecine Dentaire USJ - page officielle La clinique dentaire subit plusieurs extensions durant toute cette période jusqu’à ce jour.

La Faculté de médecine dentaire a été créée en 1920 sous la forme d'une École dentaire rattachée à la Faculté française de médecine et de pharmacie. Elle comportait trois années d'études et disposait d'une salle avec une dizaine de fauteuils pour les stages cliniques. L'École adopta un régime d'études de quatre ans en octobre 1936 et de 5 ans à partir de 1967, elle devint faculté de médecine denta

ire. Les études post-universitaires mises en place en 1988 sont en pleine expansion puisqu’elles groupent actuellement 8 spécialités. A partir de l’année universitaire 2003-2004, la Faculté a adopté pour ses cursus le système européen de crédits transférables (ECTS). De plus la Faculté organise depuis plusieurs années des programmes de formations continues (3 à 4 par an) ainsi qu’un congrès bisannuel, les Journées odontologiques. En outre, la Faculté édite une r***e scientifique l’IAJD (4 numéros par an). Comme la plupart des Institutions de l'USJ, la Faculté de médecine dentaire a dû déplacer ses activités durant les années de guerre et ce n'est qu'en avril 1991 qu’elle réintégra le Campus initial après sa restauration. Depuis sa création, la Faculté était d'une certaine façon affiliée à l'Institut de Stomatologie de Paris qui lui assurait l'assistance académique et technique elle s’ouvrit dès 1980 par des conventions et partenariats à d’autres facultés du monde spécialement francophones et anglosaxones. Grâce à ce réseau, la Faculté devint membre de la Conférence Internationale des Doyens de Chirurgie Dentaire Francophones (CIDCDF) et son Doyen le Pr Antoine Hokayem en a été le président de 2001 à 2005. et le Doyen Pr Nada Naaman en a occupé le poste de secrétaire générale de 2005 à 2009. Depuis Juin 1997, la Faculté est le siège permanent de l’Association des Facultés de Chirurgies Dentaires Arabes et son Doyen en est le Secrétaire Général.

🌟 A Resounding Success – Pierre Lahoud Award for Innovation 2026 🌟

The Center for Entrepreneurship EC2, in collaboration with the Faculty of Dental Medicine and the FMD Alumni Association, proudly hosted the first edition of the Pierre Lahoud Award for Innovation 2026 on Friday, May 22nd at the Medical Sciences Campus.

In commemoration of Dr. Pierre Lahoud, who was an exceptional, esteemed and active member of the department, the Surgery Department contributed to the winner’s prizes, adding a meaningful dimension to this inaugural edition.

✨ The event was a true celebration of creativity and excellence:
- 13 teams of our 4th-year students delivered inspiring pitch presentations before a distinguished jury of experts.
- The award ceremony honored outstanding projects, with 5 finalists recognized for their innovation and impact.
- A vibrant cocktail & networking session brought together students, alumni, and professionals, fostering collaboration and future opportunities.

👏 Congratulations to all the finalist teams and the two winners for their remarkable projects, and heartfelt thanks to the organizers for making this first edition such a memorable and successful milestone.

Suite au processus de sélection mené selon les critères établis par le Service étudiant d’information et d’orientation, une nouvelle équipe d’étudiants a été retenue afin de représenter la Faculté de Médecine Dentaire de l’Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth (FMD-USJ). au sein des établissements scolaires et d’accompagner les élèves dans leur orientation universitaire.

Cette initiative témoigne de l’engagement de la FMD-USJ à renforcer les liens avec les futurs étudiants et à promouvoir une orientation fondée sur l’échange, l’écoute et le partage d’expérience.

We were deeply honored to welcome Dr. Luca Landi, Past-President of the Italian Society of Periodontology (SIdP) and a globally recognized authority in the field, for a prestigious academic contribution to our post-graduate program in Periodontology at Saint-Joseph University of Beirut (USJ).
Dr. Landi conducted a highly interactive, two-session online course dedicated to the critical evaluation of clinical principles and long-term prognosis in crown lengthening procedures.
Our post-graduate residents had the invaluable opportunity to engage with advanced clinical insights, bridging top-tier international expertise with our rigorous academic curriculum. We extend our sincerest gratitude to Dr. Landi for his time, dedication, and inspiring contribution to the next generation of specialists.

The Faculty of Dental Medicine at Saint Joseph University of Beirut had the pleasure of hosting today an enriching lecture entitled “Restoring Esthetics and Function in Fixed Prosthodontics: Considerations for Long-Term Success” delivered by Prof. Nadim Z. Baba. A native of Lebanon, Prof. Baba is Professor of Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda University, former President of the American College of Prosthodontists, Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, and an internationally recognized author and lecturer in fixed and implant prosthodontics. Students of the MS DEP and DU DRE programs attended this valuable session, which highlighted contemporary concepts and clinical considerations for achieving long-term success in fixed prosthodontics. We warmly thank Prof. Baba for sharing his expertise and inspiring our future specialists.
