Dr. Hanan M Elayyan

DDS, MFDs (RCSI), High Specialty Orth. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Jordan in 2010, and the Membership of the Faculty of Dentistry Diploma from the Royal college of Surgeons of Ireland - Dublin. After completing one year of internship at the Jordanian Ministry of Health, Dr. Elayyan pursued her three-year residency training at Jordan University of Science and Technology and obtained the High Specialty Degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in 2014. Dr. Elayyan received her National Board certification in 2015 and obtained the Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Ediburgh - UK in 2016. She currently works in the private sector and is a part-time clinical lecturer at Jordan University of Science and Technology

Midlines centered, smile looks great, roots within the bone, dilacerated central tooth aligned & healthy, missing teeth spaces closed, and patient wouldn’t need implants or prosthetics in the future!

That’s what makes an orthodontist happy!

While one case can be treated with different approaches, navigating a difficult case with what works best for the patient’s benefit, age, budget, & aspirations is what truly counts as a successful treatment.

This case of a class III, with a dilacerated & malformed central incisor, missing upper lateral incisor, missing lower second premolar, midline shifts in both arches, reduced overjet & overbite, & mesially tipped lower 1st molar, was handled with mindfulness & care (especially around the UR1!) to arrive at this final result.

The patient is enjoying her pretty smile & healthy functional bite, through those crucial adolescent years & beyond, and we couldn’t be happier!

Sharing this very special case & dear patient to my heart. Presented first to my office at the age of 9 complaining of missing top teeth (UR1 & UR2), & mobility in UL1.
المرحلة الأولى من علاج حالة انطمار سن أمامي علوي :)

Patient was in her mixed dentition with a reported history of trauma to the dentition at the age of 2.5 yrs.
She had a skeletal class III base, clinically unerupted UR1 + UR2, premature loss of upper Cs & lower primary molars, & Grade I mobility on UL1 due to traumatic occlusion (only anterior tooth in occlusion)

Her OPG & subsequent CBCT revealed:
-UR1: Crown dilaceration + enamel invagination (dens in dente type I)+ bulbous & short root morphology + pulp stone + buccal cortical bone dehiscence
-UR2: missing + presence of a complex odontome -UL1: pulp stone
-Ul2: Dens Invaginatus type I
After endodontic & restorative consultation, and the discussion of treatment options with the parents; the decision was made to go ahead with tooth exposure & traction, root canal treatment as soon as accessibility allows, & crown buildup.

The patient was scheduled for GA for the exposure procedure & extraction of the odontome. She was also fitted with an URA with a posterior bite plane to disocclude UL1 until the surgery appointment.

⭐️Tooth was successfully tracked with a partial fixed appliance & a gold chain, and went under several sequential decoronation procedures until it was accessible for RCT & full crown restoration. It was also nudged from palatal occlusion (Class III) into a positive overjet & overbite, & the patient was fitted with a fixed 1-1 retainer & a removable one after traction was completed and while waiting for the rest of permanent dentition to erupt.

☺️At the end of stage 1, the patient & mother were ecstatic that she could finally smile with two front teeth instead of one! :)

تحريك الأسنان بأي جهاز تقويمي (ثابت أو متحرّك شفاف) هو عبارة عن عملية بيولوجية تقوم بها خلايا الجسم.

هذه الخلايا لها سرعة معيّنة في الاستجابة للمحفّز - (القوة الناتجة عن التقويم) - والأداء -(هدم وبناء العظم حول الأسنان) - الذي يؤدي إلى تحرك الأسنان.

مثل كل العمليات البيولوجية داخل جسم الأسنان، هناك مراحل متعاقبة خلال العملية لا تستطيع الخلايا تجاوزها صحياً، وبخلاف ذلك قد يكون هناك عواقب وأضرار على الأنسجة نراها كثيراً عندما يتم محاولة تحريك الأسنان بسرعة أو عند تطبيق قوة عالية عليهم.
