➡️Four TADs, two surgical guides, and one dedicated corticotomy guide.

Let me show you how we planned this case.

This is a traditional TADs planning workflow for a bone-borne appliance with a Target expansion screw.

In this case, we focused particularly on the design and finalization of the appliance.

We created a dedicated fixation support for the Target screw, designed to prevent rotation and keep the screw perfectly stable.

It may look like a small technical detail, but it makes an important difference during the clinical phase.

Once the four TADs have been placed in the palate, the clinician can connect and secure the appliance in a simpler, more stable, and more controlled way.

For the guided placement of the four TADs, we designed two dedicated surgical guides.

But the workflow doesn’t stop there.

We also designed a specific guide for the corticotomy procedure, using the REVERSE corticotomy bur, which is particularly well suited for this type of application.

This means that within the same digital planning workflow, we can manage TADs positioning, appliance design and production, as well as guided corticotomy.

One digital workflow, where every component has a specific purpose.

The goal?

To make the transition from digital planning to the clinical procedure simpler, more controlled, and more predictable.

FROM SLM TO MIRROR FINISH

A truly high-quality metal surface is not achieved in a single step. It is the result of a controlled and progressive workflow.

1. SLM + tungsten carbide finishing | Ra 5–6 µm

After SLM production, heat treatment and support removal, the Co‑Cr structure is finished using cross-cut tungsten carbide burs.

The burs are moved consistently in the same direction, creating a controlled “combing” effect that regularises the metal surface and prepares it for the next stage.

2. TWISTER | Ra 1–2 µm

A controlled glass-bead treatment further reduces surface irregularities, creating a more uniform and homogeneous satin finish.

3. DLyte | Ra 0.1–0.3 µm

Dry electropolishing completes the workflow, reducing micro-roughness and producing an extremely smooth, bright and uniform surface.

The Ra values shown are indicative process targets and should be confirmed by profilometer measurements conducted according to a defined protocol.
