Direct composite restoration. The old amalgam in the maxillary first molar was fractured, so I removed it and restored it using biomimetic techniques for a seamless, natural result. Despite the great respect I have for amalgam and the significant contribution it has made to dentistry, I’ve never seen an old amalgam restoration without cracks on the enamel and dentin underneath.
