Does “keyhole implant placement” mean surgery-free treatment?
No. Dental implant placement is still a surgical procedure. The term “keyhole” commonly describes a flapless approach in which the implant is placed through a small, guided access without raising a conventional gum flap.
Computer-guided treatment combines 3D imaging, virtual implant planning and a customized surgical guide to help transfer the planned implant position, angle and depth.
This approach is used only when clinically appropriate after evaluating bone volume, gum condition, anatomy and treatment requirements. A conventional surgical approach may be safer or more suitable in some cases.
