Department of Conservative Dentistry - Dr. Ankit Arora, Professor at Manubhai Patel Dental College, was invited to deliver a lecture and conduct hands on workshop for students, interns, post graduate students of Geetanjili Dental Research Institute, Udaipur.

The lecture title was “Rubberdam masterclass: precision through isolation” with almost 100 attendees and more than 30 hands on participants.

The Department of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics successfully organized a Value-Added Workshop on "Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD)" for Undergraduate Interns and Postgraduate students in Orthodontics on 22nd and 23rd June 2026. The workshop was conducted by Professor Dr. Padmaja Sharma, an expert in the field of Temporomandibular Disorders and Orofacial Pain.

The scientific sessions focused on the Basic Anatomy of the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ), Clinical Assessment of Temporomandibular Disorders, and Evidence-based Management of TMD. The workshop also included comprehensive hands-on training in the clinical palpation of the TMJ, muscles of mastication, and myofascial trigger points of the orofacial musculature. The practical sessions emphasized a systematic approach to the examination of patients with temporomandibular disorders, enabling participants to accurately identify pain originating from the TMJ and associated musculature.

MPDC is happy to share Dr. Ankit Arora, Professor of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics at Manubhai Patel Dental College, delivered the keynote lecture at the 11th ISDT (Indian Society of Dental Traumatology) Symposium held at Sumandeep Vidyapeeth, Vadodara, on July 10, 2026. The lecture, titled “Decoding the hidden realm: CBCT guided precision planning in traumatic dental injuries,” provided practical insights to an audience of over 200 delegates.

A faculty development programme titled Teaching and learning in the AI era was conducted for dental faculty, by the Teaching and Learning Committee on 24th June 2026. It emphasised on how AI is reshaping dental education, clinical reasoning and student learning. The session was conducted in hybrid mode with two speakers, Dr. Rahmath Shameem and Dr. Reema Agrawal.
Main key points highlighted were that students should be trained to use AI responsibly, with clear boundaries on when AI may assist and when human review is essential. Faculty members were made aware that AI can improve efficiency, but it must not replace critical thinking, clinical judgment or teacher supervision. Students should be encouraged to use AI as a learning aid, not a shortcut, by checking outputs, citing sources properly and reflecting on the answers before submitting work.

National Reading Day is celebrated annually in India on June 19th to honor Puthuvayil Narayana (P.N.) Panicker, the “Father of India’s Library Movement”. It promotes literacy, digital learning, and the lifelong habit of reading.

The Library Advisory Committee (LAC) celebrated this day by organizing an exciting and creative competition titled “One Story - Many Minds”. The competition aimed at encouraging confidence, teamwork, creativity, imagination; enhancing communication, presentation and spontaneous storytelling skills among students. This competition was open to all undergraduate students, postgraduates, and interns and was conducted in Classroom C from 1:15 pm onwards. A total of 30 students (undergraduates & interns) had participated in 8 groups with full enthusiasm.

A Historic Milestone at Manubhai Patel Dental College

Manubhai Patel Dental College proudly achieved a major milestone with the successful completion of its first Bi-Jaw (Bimaxillary) Orthognathic Surgery.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Namish Batra, Dept. Of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, in collaboration with Dr. Udita Mehta, Dept. Of Orthodontist, with orthodontic planning contributed significantly to the successful outcome. Special thanks to Dr. Arun Verma for his expert administration of general anesthesia and ensuring smooth recovery.

This landmark achievement highlights the institution’s growing expertise in advanced maxillofacial surgery and multidisciplinary patient care. Congratulations to entire team on this remarkable accomplishment.

International Yoga Day 2026

Manubhai Patel Dental College & Hospital celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June 2026 with an invigorating yoga session conducted by Dr. Aditi Vasavada. Faculty members, students, and staff enthusiastically participated in various yoga practices and breathing exercises promoting physical fitness, mental well being, and stress management.

The session highlighted the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life to achieve a healthier and more balanced lifestyle. The event concluded with a collective commitment towards wellness and holistic health.
