Extraction of 18 (Maxillary upper right third molar)
The relief and happiness a patient feels after a successful upper wisdom tooth extraction can be immense. Due to their position and the complications they can cause caries & can lead to significant discomfort.

Extraction involves careful planning and ex*****on, as the dentist must navigate through the unique anatomy of the upper jaw to safely remove the tooth.
The procedure typically starts with an X-ray to assess the tooth's position and the surrounding bone structure. I numbed the area with local anesthesia, made an incision in the gum tissue, and gently removed the tooth after luxation.

However, once removed, patient felt a significant improvement in their oral health and overall comfort.
It's a moment worth celebrating when a patient can leave my dental office with a smile, free from the pain that once overshadowed their daily life.
This procedure not only alleviates immediate discomfort but also helps prevent future dental issues, ensuring a happier and healthier smile for years to come.

As a , I often encounter patients with various dental problems like discolored and fractured tooth, which can result from trauma, decay, or aging. In this post, I will share with you a case of a patient who had a discolored and fractured tooth treated with root canal treatment and metal ceramic crown.
- The patient was a 57 year-old man who came to my clinic complaining of pain in his upper left front tooth.
- He also expressed his dissatisfaction with the color and shape of the tooth, which was noticeably darker and shorter than the adjacent teeth.
- He said that the tooth was injured in a fall from few years ago
- After examining the tooth and taking an X-ray, I diagnosed him with pulp necrosis and chronic apical periodontitis, which means that the nerve and blood vessels inside the tooth were dead and infected, causing inflammation and abscess at the root tip.
- I explained to him that the only way to save the tooth and eliminate the infection was to perform a root canal treatment, which involves removing the diseased pulp tissue, cleaning and shaping the root canal, and filling it with a biocompatible material.
- I also told him that after the root canal treatment, she would need a crown to restore the strength, function, and aesthetics of the tooth.
- The patient agreed to proceed with the treatment plan, and I scheduled him for appointments.
- In the first appointment, I performed the root canal treatment under local anesthesia, files and rotary instruments. I then took an impression of the tooth and sent it to the dental laboratory for fabrication of the metal ceramic crown.
- In the further appointment, I tried on the metal ceramic crown that was custom-made for the patient. The crown matched perfectly with the shape, and size of the adjacent teeth, creating a natural and harmonious smile. I cemented the crown on the tooth with a cement, and checked the occlusion and contacts.
The patient was very happy with the final result, and thanked me for restoring his smile and confidence.

I'm so glad that my patient left with a big smile on her face today. She came in with a fractured front tooth that was bothering her for a long time. I did a composite restoration (filling) for her, which is a type of tooth-colored material that blends in with the natural tooth. It was a bit tricky to match the shade and shape of her tooth, but I think I did a pretty good job. She was very happy with the result and thanked me for restoring her confidence. I love being a dentist and helping people smile again!
