Hungry Cats and Fish Heads

The Man set the big mackerel on the cutting table. He chopped the head and threw it to the cats. The fittest feline took the head. I ordered for strong tea with no sugar. The place untouched by modern inventions. There was no television, computer, mobile phones or no other electronic devices. I couldn't even find a radio. I looked around for an electric bulb. The fully automatic, front loading washing machine was a piece of junk. The man broke my concentration with a hot cup of tea. It tasted nothing like tea. Boiling water with traces of dairy whitener and non existent tea leaves. I watched the cat devour the fish head. There were no interruptions; no electric signals or vibrations. When it was time to leave, I paid Rs. 50. The Woman returned Rs. 40 with a warm smile. She promptly enquired about my presence. I spoke the truth. There was something about that smile and the conversation. It felt like the good old days.
