Dental Problems and Treatment

Introduction:

Dentistry is the profession concerned with the prevention and treatment of oral disease, including diseases of the teeth, supporting structures, and diseases of the soft tissues of the mouth. We must take proper care and the right treatment to keep them safe. There are numerous ways to keep our teeth clean and safe. Oral health and Issue:
It is address

ing the overall health of the teeth, gums, and mouth. Finding a problem in any part of the mouth is referred to as an oral or dental health issue. Major dental issues are: cavities, tooth erosion, gum infections, and gum diseases. They can cause pain, discomfort, affect a person’s ability to eat, and lead to distress. General symptoms:

Toothache
Sensitivity
Loose teeth
Changes in shape and color
Holes and cracks on the teeth
Swollen gums
Gum pain
Common dental problems and treatment procedures:

Teeth cleanings:
This is the first and foremost dental treatment taken by us. Many dentists recommend cleaning the teeth every six months, and some recommend it once a year. Either way, it is a very important part of oral health. Your own toothbrush will never be as efficient as the tools a dentist uses to clean your teeth. Teeth whitening:
Similar to teeth cleaning, the whitening process involves cleaning and making our teeth bright. Whitening at home takes a lot of extra time, effort, and sometimes it is sensitive to handle. In dentistry, bleaching is quicker and safer because it is performed by professionals. Most often, dentists use a special hydrogen peroxide gel and a special light source to whiten faster. Scaling:

Teeth scaling is the process of removing plaque and cream of tartar present on the teeth. The dentist will remove the plaque along the gum line of the tooth and smoothen the tooth to reattach to the gums. Teeth scaling makes the tooth cavity-free and healthier for a longer duration. Uncleaned teeth, gum infections, and cavities filled with bacteria will lead to a sign of chronic periodontal disease. Medical advice and treatment are necessary to avoid complicated dental problems. Untreated chronic periodontal disease can lead to tooth loss, moving teeth,
and loose teeth. The major cause of the chronic periodontal disease are:

Poor dental hygiene
Poor nutrition
Changes in hormone
Heredity
Aging
Smoking

Flap surgery:

Specialists make small cuts in our gum and lift a section of tissue back. Then, they remove tartar and bacteria from our teeth and gums. The gums are sealed back, so the tissue fits firmly around our teeth. Once we heal, it will be easier to clean areas on our teeth and gums. There are different types of flap surgery made depending upon the location and structure of the flap. Local Flap:

It is located next to the wound, the skin remains attached at one end in order that the blood supply is left intact. Bone Flap:
This method involved when bone and overlying skin are transported to a new location. Microvascular free flap –
The dentist detaches and reattaching skin and blood vessels from one
place of the body to another place. Microsurgery is used to attach blood vessels. Root Canal:
A tooth consists of a crown and roots. The crown is mainly above the gum, while the roots are below it. The roots attach the tooth to the jawbone. Inside the crown and the root, or the root canal, is the pulp. The root canal treatment is designed to eliminate bacteria from the infected root canal, prevent reinfection of the tooth and
save the natural tooth. A root canal aims to repair the tooth instead of removing it. At the time of the root canal process, the inflamed or infected pulp is removed and the
inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected, then filled and sealed. The steps involved in the root canal are: Cleaning the root canal: The dentist removes the impure and infected area inside the root canal. Filling the root canal:

Filling the contaminated hollow area with tiny files and irrigation solution. Then, the tooth is filled with a rubber-like material, using an adhesive cement to seal the canals completely. Adding a crown:
After the root canal a tooth has no pulp, it would be very fragile. Crowning helps
to protect the teeth from damage. Filling:

Cavities are permanently damaged areas in the hard surface of your teeth that develop into tiny openings or holes. Cavities are also called tooth decay or caries. The filling is a treatment to restore missing tooth structure caused by decay. A dental filling helps to fill this gap and protect it from further decay. A filling is also used to repair broken or cracked teeth. Pulpotomy and Pulpectomy:

Both address the infected pulp present in the teeth. But, the procedures are not the same. During a pulpotomy, a dental expert removes the coronal pulp from a tooth, Pulpotomies are completed on teeth that are still alive, respond to temperature, have sensation, and have vascular flow. If the process is successful, it is important to observe that there is no abscess in the area, no spontaneous pain, and no bone loss under the tooth. A pulpectomy, in comparison, is a process that removes the pulp from all parts of a tooth, removes all the contents of the tooth's inner chamber, cleans the entire root canal to protect it from further infection including pulp in the roots. After the pulpectomy teeth that are no longer alive. Implant:

Implant sounds familiar to all of us. It makes a major difference in people’s lives by enabling them to chew and eat properly, as well as restoring their selfesteem. Dental implant surgery is a procedure that replaces tooth roots with metal, screw like posts and replaces damaged or missing teeth with artificial teeth that look and function much like real ones. The steps involved in implant:

• Planning
• Damaged tooth removal
• Jawbone preparation
• Dental implant placement
• Bone growth and healing
• Abutment placement
• Artificial tooth placement

Oral and maxillofacial surgery:
This is a procedure to fix the problem present in the mouth, jaw, face structure, and neck. This process aims to change the profile of the face, reshape the nose, and remove the extra tissue present on the face. In short, it is termed OMSs. Conclusion:
Understanding good oral health practice is very much equivalent to physical health. Apply the best practices to keep our oral health fine. Find the right dental care to prevent the oral issue in advance. Go for regular dental checkups to know about your oral health. Going to the dentist may be intimidating, but the best dentist will do their best to make you feel comfortable.
