MSE expansion in a 12 year old!
In some cases, early intervention in mixed dentition requires the need to utilize Microimplant supported expansion to ensure symmetrical facial movement and creating adequate space for airway.

Such cases require careful planning and thorough analysis of every aspect before moving ahead.

In this case, patient reported with chronic mouth breathing, disturbed sleep and “unable to breathe from the nose” . CBCT revealed collapse nasal airway space and a high arched palate.

Treatment offered to the patient :
1. Skeletal expansion with MSE
2. Myofunctional Therapy
3. Braces/Aligners for final teeth alignment

3 months post Expansion and Moyofunctional Therapy, Note the increase in the Nasal Airway Space, increase in Tongue space, corrected Tongue posture( Tongue is resting up on the palate), Significantly improved Sleep ( as per reported by patient).

Surgical excision is the treatment of choice.
