We have a bit of space around the house. On and off we have planted in that space, anything with leaves and roots that appealed to us, and we call it a garden. At one time it did boast of half a dozen varieties of Hibiscus, three types of roses, a jasmine creeper which climbed to our first floor roof, a chickoo tree, guava, coconut etc etc. Over the last fifteen years most of them either died or cut to accommodate other necessary stuff. Now apart from some sundry plants which are trying hard to justify the name ‘garden’, we have the chickoo and one coconut as reminders of the old glory.
Now, many of the plants in front of the clinic on the ground floor are courtesy my helpers. We had an extended rainy season this year and the grass and weeds kept growing at a very fast pace. The more I cleared, the more they grew.
There was a patch of green about six feet by three and as I started clearing it I thought of creating some pattern on the ground. I wanted to showcase my gardening skills. Since I am not very creative, I just tried my hand at P D S (for Parijata dental Studio) and with considerable patience plucked the grass to get the pattern.
P is OK, D looks like O and S is anaemic. But I do have a pattern and am proud of my work. At the background are the betel leaves spreading on the compound wall. They only ask for water and take care of themselves. I put our garden and my work in front of you to appreciate and say ‘nice’ !!
