This young patient presented with both upper canines blocked towards the palate (palatally displaced canines) along with a bilateral canine crossbite, which contributed to a narrow and constricted smile appearance.

Using Invisalign clear aligners, we successfully corrected the crossbite, aligned both canines into their ideal position, and broadened the smile for a more balanced and aesthetic appearance.

Some cases truly test an orthodontist’s patience, planning, and biomechanics—and this was one of them.

This patient presented with a severe deep bite, impacted canines, significant crowding, and a highly complex malocclusion. The first and most critical challenge was to safely open the deep bite and create the space required for proper tooth movement. Once adequate space was gained, the impacted canines were surgically exposed and carefully guided into their correct positions within the dental arches.

Over the course of treatment, the bite was corrected, the impacted teeth were aligned, crowding was resolved, and a functional, balanced smile was achieved. Every stage required careful monitoring and precise mechanics to ensure healthy tooth movement and a stable result.

Cases like this are a reminder that even the most challenging orthodontic problems can be successfully managed with proper diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient cooperation.

✨ Correcting More Than Just Crooked Teeth ✨

This is a retreatment orthodontic case where the patient had previously undergone orthodontic treatment elsewhere but was left with significant concerns, including proclined teeth, excessive gum display while smiling, compromised bite relationships, and unaesthetic grinding of the front incisors.

After a comprehensive evaluation, treatment was planned with extraction of all four premolars to address the protrusion, improve facial balance, and reduce the prominent gummy smile. Throughout treatment, special attention was given to achieving a more harmonious smile, improved bite function, and a better side profile.

Another challenge in this case was the presence of a prosthetic lateral incisor. While prosthetic replacement is commonly recommended after orthodontic treatment, we were able to successfully complete the entire treatment using the existing prosthetic tooth, achieving excellent esthetic and functional results without replacement.

The previously ground front incisors were also carefully corrected and reshaped through enameloplasty, restoring a more natural and pleasing appearance to the smile.

The result is a smile that is more balanced, soothing, and esthetically pleasing, with improved facial profile, reduced gummy smile, corrected bite, and enhanced dental proportions.
