DIY DENTAL TREATMENT : OUR VIEWPOINT

Do-it-yourself (DIY) trends that claim a few simple steps will lead to a dramatic impact may work well for some home improvement projects or our skin , but what about DIY when it comes to your dental health?

In our opinion they do not work and many a times cause more harm than good .

‘ A very popular trend is DIY whitening with charcoal – One must be aware that this can cause more damage to the teeth and leave you with an issue of sensitivity to live with later . ‘ Dr Devanshi says. There is no evidence that shows dental products with charcoal are safe or effective for your teeth, according to the September 2017 issue of the Journal of the American Dental Association.

So please choose wisely and before you take your dental health into your own hands based on the promises and ease of any DIY treatments, it’s critical to talk to the expert.

“When my patient comes in for a consult , my goal is to evaluate their overall dental health picture,” Dr. Dhruv quotes . “A dentist’s office is a safe place where a doctor is ensuring you’re not only getting SAFE CARE but also care that will actually treat the root cause of your problem.

So DIY is definetly good for your skin or house but not for your TEETH .

How to Prevent Tooth Decay in Children ?

Of recent times the practice is seeing an increased number of Toddlers and Children with decay 👶🏻 and Hassled parents wondering on how it happened 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 ? Hence to address this issue we decided to write this post with an aim to create Awareness 👀 about Dental Hygiene in Children .

CAUSES of Tooth Decay in BABIES / TODDLERS 🦷

1. Infected By Acid producing Bacteria 🐲
Decay develops when a child’s mouth is
infected by acid producing Bacteria. This
can be passes from parents, siblings or
Caregivers 👵🏼 by sharing apoons or cups .

2. Decay also develops when a chils’s teeth or
gums are exposed to any liquid or food
other than water frequently and throughout
the day .

Natural Sugars are changed to acid and this dissolves the Outer part of the Tooth (Enamel)
causing them to decay. Most common example of this is when we put children to bed with a bottle of formula milk or juice .

In the next post we will be sharing How To Prevent Decay in Children .
