Smile rejuvenation for a case where we replaced bulky old composites with ceramic restorations. This was a full mouth rehabilitation case with e max partial crowns, vonlays and crowns. We improved aesthetics by improving the teeth visibility, shape , shade and texture of her teeth. We can also call this REVERSE AGING ( When upper teeth visibility is more the person looks more youthful) In this case we made sure that even though we created a fresher smile it still looks natural.

In today’s modern world of dentistry we are often using dental scans now but the need and art of a good rubber base impression still exits. There are times when the lab still requests a rubber base impression for some cases or situations. Even though its a simple technique and I am sure most of the clinicians are experts in recording Impressions , I am still showing the technique we have been using at our clinic
STEPS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
(1) Apply the tray adhesive onto the Impression tray. We are using dentsply
(2) Take equal parts of the Putty . We are using Aquasil soft putty by dentsply . Mix it well till uniform color is formed. Apply it over the Impression tray
(3)Apply a plastic spacer onto the impression tray . Record the impression with this plastic spacer. Place the tray for a short while then remove the tray. The putty should still be soft . Remove the plastic and trim the excess putty from the ends of the tray. You should@be able to see some indentations of the teeth on the putty
(4) Next step is to take the light body , bleed it a little then insert it onto the impression tray over the putty. Make sure there are no bubbles and the tip of the light body gun is close to the impression tray.
(5) Insert the tray with the light body on the patient’s teeth in such a way that we insert the pressure from the molars first and then the anterior teeth so that the excess light body is dispensed onto the anterior segment rather than chances of the light body leaking into the throat.
(6) Let the light body set for 5 minutes then remove it for the perfect rubber base impression
NOTE always use LASER TROUGHING OR RETRACTION CORDS FOR VENEER OR CROWN PREPS BEFORE IMPRESSIONS OR SCANNING.
