🦷 A challenging mandibular 3rd molar case — 38
An impacted mandibular 3rd molar with both roots in contact with the inferior alveolar nerve, making this extraction a high-risk procedure.
And to make things even more interesting… a bulbous root anatomy. 😮‍💨
The patient was thoroughly counselled regarding the potential risks, particularly inferior alveolar nerve injury and post-operative paraesthesia. After informed consent and careful planning, 38 was successfully and carefully extracted.
Cases like these remind us that sometimes it’s not just about removing a tooth — it’s about respecting the anatomy, understanding the risks, and knowing how to manage them. 🦷💪
