๐Ÿ”น๏ธA bite (occlusion) can be explained as the way our teeth meet when the lower jaw (mandible) and upper jaw (maxilla) come together. In case of a normal bite the upper jaw/teeth would lie 2 mm anteriorly to the lower jaw/teeth.

๐Ÿ”น๏ธHowever, in a crossbite/underbite condition the lower teeth align in front of the upper teeth. It can happen at the front, side, or back of the mouth. If this happens it locks the upper jaw and can contribute to an asymmetrical growth of the jaw.

๐Ÿ”น๏ธHaving said that, early intervention can correct this condition, thus facilitating proper alignment as well as growth of the jaws.
